"2019 Leapin' Leachies Visit Log" Episode 2

In Episode 1, I talked about arriving at Leapin' and introduced some GT animals. In Episode 2, I want to share a deeper tour of the collection and summarize what I actually saw and felt from pure island locale animals. So, let's step back into Leapin' again. 🦎✨
🔮 A rare high-pattern Nuu Ana A high-pattern Nuu Ana is truly hard to find. When pure animals are maintained over multiple generations, individuals with very clear pattern expression can appear from time to time. The male I saw this trip had not only beautiful patterning, but also a very unique color tone. 💜 A purple-tinted base with bold pattern. He was the kind of animal you fall for at first sight, and the color was almost impossible to capture in photos.
🌿 Nuu Ami animals collected in 1997 The Nuu Ami animals I met were more than just "pretty Leachies." They were a pair actually collected in New Caledonia in 1997. That means nearly 29 years of history. It was my first time seeing FC animals in person, and I could really feel the weight of a true pure line.
🌸 Nuu Ami "Splash" - beauty that takes your words away Honestly, she was overwhelmingly beautiful. The soft pink pattern wrapping the body, combined with yellow points scattered like starlight, looked like a painted gecko brought to life.
🟡 "Moro" (1997 collection) - a yellow shock This is another unforgettable animal. A 1997-collected Moro with real historical value, and true to that locale type, it had strong size and heavy structure. Most striking was the base color: not cream, not typical brown, but a vivid and unusual yellow base.
🔴 Bayonnaise - a uniquely mesmerizing animal While checking juvenile pure-line animals one by one, Bayonnaise immediately stood out. Its dotted pattern across the body felt irregular but never messy. It had a surprising balance and a very distinctive texture and color that photos cannot fully show.
❄️ Pattern treasure from the Brosse line Brosse animals are known for flashy expression among island locales. The two I saw were perfect examples. ✅ One had snowflake-like pattern spread over the body. ❄️✅ The other had dense patterning that reminded me of Ouael type expression. Pattern quantity, placement, and color all made them ideal representative animals for introducing Brosse.
🤍 Duu Ana - the pure locale I really wanted to meet One of my biggest goals on this trip was seeing Duu Ana. It's one of the hardest pure island locales to see in person, and this time I finally did. I personally love white and yellow-based expression, and the Duu Ana animals I saw had a gentle, soft white pattern that was truly beautiful.
💜 Pure Caanawa "Nurple" - purple radiance If I had to describe it in one phrase: "purple, and more purple." The animal was extremely complete in quality, with depth and layered color that simply does not come through in photos. It was the kind of texture and impact you understand only in person.
👀 Trachy behavior - "they were watching us" One of the most interesting moments on this trip was observing Trachy rhychus behavior. I had heard they were intelligent, but this was my first time seeing many of them come forward and appear to observe people directly. When I asked Steve why they were all at the front, he smiled and said, "They're watching the humans." That moment made it clear to me that Trachys feel different from other New Caledonian geckos in awareness and behavior.
🔥 Another world at Leapin': the "Hot Room" Leapin' housed many species beyond Leachies. The "Hot Room" was especially memorable, with unusual animals such as large monitors, iguanas, snakes, and amphibians. . 🛫 What stayed with me from this trip My 2019 Leapin' visit was short but deeply impactful. I did not just see beautiful animals. I felt respect for life, a serious philosophy of breeding, and the care built over decades. Conversations with Steve, moments with the animals, and the experience of not only seeing but truly feeling all became important standards for how I will keep, share, and introduce Leachies in the future. Thank you. 😊 🦎 "LIFE IS BETTER WITH PETS."
